For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 52-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung’s 2007 model LNT5265F is a good choice. Besides opffering full 1080p resolution the LNT5265F also features a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle tecture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.

The Samsung Digital Natural Image engine (DNIe) Video Enhancer refines all analog NTSC and wideband video inputs for an overall improvement in picture quality. DNIe improves contrast, white level, picture detail and incorporates digital noise reduction to improve lower quality video inputs. The 3D Y/C digital comb filter constantly analyzes the three dimensions of picture height, picture width, and picture changes-over-time to dramatically reduce edge image artifacts while improving transition detail.

High-quality virtual surround sound can be experienced with just the speakers built into the TV. SRS TruSurround XT technology delivers an amazing, simulated 3D effect with clear dialog and powerful bass through hidden side speakers. TruSurround XT audio adds three audio enhancement technologies to produce an amazingly immersive sound experience.

* Dialog Clarity brings movie dialog into Focus during the playback of any surround-encoded material to make speech much clearer and crisper.
* TruBass creates incredible deep rich bass allowing a person to perceive significantly deeper, richer low bass tones that are far beyond the physical low frequency capabilities of the speaker itself.
* The SRS WOW feature widens the soundstage by processing standard two-channel stereo material as well as multi-channel encoded material for a dramatic improvement in the playback of any stereo audio over a two-speaker system.

What’s in the box: Samsung LNT5265F 53-inch 1080P LCD TV, remote control, 2 AAA batteries, Power Cord, cleaning cloth, owners manual, warranty card.

Samsung LNT5265F Reviews

From Amazon.com

Excellent LCD…Extremely Happy So Far…Go Pull the Trigger

I have only watched it tonight, but so far everything looks great. I could definitely see some of the things that people have questioned on this thread, but the settings change took care of anything I could find with it, but then again I am not a super videophile…I know just enough to be dangerous.

One thing I noticed while messing with the settings is that they definitely make a big difference in getting to an ultimate image on this LCD. Furthermore, this model appears to be very flexible, and as such most of the non catrostophic issues I am hearing about on different forums can be cleared up if you are using the correct settings. The settings that I am using are below in case you care. The most important one of the lot was the HDMI Black=Low.

Samsung LN-T5265F Bad Mamma Jamma
Scientific Atlantic 8300HD over HDMI

Mode=Movie
Contrast=85
Brightness=42
Sharpness=25
Color=60
Tint=G50-R50
Backlight=5
Tone=Warm1
Black Adjust=low
Dynamic Contrast=low
Gamma=-1
Color Space=Auto
White Balance=all 15
Color Control=all 15
Edge Enhancement=off
YvYcc=off
DNR and DNIe: Off
Energy Saving=Medium
HDMI Black=Low

A few other things to note, especially if you are in the market. I bought mine from Amazon, and the seller with the low price that day was OfficeDepot. They have a subsidiary called TechDepot that sells consumer stuff; didn’t know that until after the order was handed off from Amazon. I got the low price I wanted, and have someone to go work with in person if something goes wrong.

Delivery came from Pilot Freight, and the delivery guy was totally cool about me getting it out and sending a signal to it before I signed the slip and went beyond the point of no return for refusal of delivery. Offer your delivery guy a drink…they should have no problem sticking it out for five minutes while they are sipping a cold bottled water on a hot day.

I also wanted to mention that I got my HDMI cables from monoprice and they are excellent cables given the insanely low price compared to other places. Don’t let the kid at Best Buy try to talk you into Monster unless he is going to let you use his employee discount. I even called monoprice tech support to ask a quick question, and they were really helpful, I got it answered in less than 5 minutes from when I dialed them.

Other than a few other things to figure out, this has been a wicked purchase so far. My wife is really happy with it, and even though it was extravagant, is glad that we got the 52″ instead of the 46″. I am putting together a desktop pc that will go in my living room that will play Blu-Ray so the ultimate test will be in a few weeks once I dump Casino Royale BD onto the 1080p native resolution.

Bottom line is that I did as much research as I could, took my time in making the purchase, and I am really happy so far with what I got. It is a great LCD, and with the HDMI 1.3 support, you are as future proofed as you can get today. Anyone not sure should definitely buy the Samsung…much better than the Sony, and I think that once all the reviews are in on CNET, this gen of Samsung LCDs will be number one on their Editors Choice list, surpassing the Sony.

Sorry for the rant, but when I was researching my purchase, a lot of what I learned was from posts like these. Hopefully what I am posting here will help others make a good purchasing decision. Good luck. Gotta get back to the Discovery HD Channel now! Not sure how I EVER watched anything in SD before….

Stunning Picture – Easy Set up

Pros: Capability to adjust image and sound to give superb results. Excellent fit and finish.
Cons: Remote control is not the best, but does its job reasonably well.
I was all set to purchase a 1080p plasma 50″ panel, and then I saw the Samsung LNT5265F in a Sears store. It just happened to be adjacent to similarly sized rear projection and plasma TV’s. At first I thought the LCD was a plasma TV because of its glossy ……

Panasonic Viera TH-42PZ85U Reviews

From Amazon.com

My first HDTV and blown away by it,

I recently decided that it’s time to upgrade to an HDTV, and I did a lot
of research before settling on this model. I’m not an A/V expert, but I am an
enthusiast, and I can tell you that this TV is simply amazing. I highly
recommend it. I can’t get very technical, but here are just a few thoughts on
why I rate this TV so highly: In the end, the quality of the picture is what
it’s about. I run Panasonic HDMI cables from a Comcast HD DVR through my Denon
850 receiver (1080 passthrough). The clarity, color and vibrancy of HD channels
are breathtaking. These new Panasonic models increased the contrast ratio
considerably, and I do think it makes a big difference. Even SD programming
looks good on the set. I also have an SD DVD player hooked up with component
cables, and even though it’s not an upconverting player the picture is still
amazing. Daytime viewing is good, although it does look better at night with
less light. The new anti-reflective screen on this model does a great job, but
this is still a problem I don’t think any Plasma TV has solved completely yet.
If I leave our living room light on it does reflect on the screen (but it looks
better in the dark anyway…). I’m still in the first 100 hours so I’m in the
breaking in stage, but I haven’t seen any signs of image retention. It sounds
like the new models made big strides in this area as well. The on-screen set-up
menus are intuitive and easy to use — didn’t have to open the manual once. My
final comment is about Amazon.com’s part in this. I order it directly from
Amazon (make sure you check who the seller is), and the experience was
flawless. They use a distribution company for delivery, and they call you with
a 4-hour time window before they deliver the TV. They also unpack it so that
you can inspect for damage – if anything is wrong they take it right back! …

For people looking to step up to full 1080p resolution in a 40-inch flat-panel LCD, Samsung’s 2007 model LNT4061FF is a good choice. Besides offering full 1080p resolution the LNT4061F also features a 10,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio for rich blacks and subltle texture display, an 8ms response time panel for smooth motion, hidden side speakers, an NTSC tuner, and 3 HDMI ports.

Compared to other Samsung Models
The primary differences between Samsung’s LNT4061F and the LNT4065F LCD HDTV is in the contrast ratio and video processing power. The pricier LNT4065F offers a 15,000:1 dynamic contrast ratio compared to this model’s 10,000:1 ratio, and also offers full 10bit video processing over this model’s 8 bit system. The more expensive model should display finer gradients of shading making for more detail in darker scenes. The video processing difference should ensure smoother motion in fast moving scenes for the LNT4065F.

A great picture, with only minor drawbacks

I have been putting this television through its paces since I got it a few weeks ago, and it is by far the best TV I have ever owned, and very difficult to beat. The image quality is really good, with bright, vivid colors and wonderful detail, especially for 1080i/p content, but even lower-resolution 720p content, which is what’s more commonly-available on OTA HD broadcast, looks phenomenal. I also have an Apple TV hooked up to it, and even though most of my content is encoded at either 360p, 480p, or 720p, it still looks quite good…. read more ….

Toshiba’s Regza line of TVs marry state-of-the-art technology to hip design. One feature that sets them apart is PixelPure 14-bit digital video processing, which creates more than 4,000 levels of color gradations for a smooth, natural-looking picture without posterization or image banding. Another benefit is a fast response time. Response time is the interval an LCD screen takes to from its darkest color to its lightest color and back again, measured in milliseconds (ms). This screen’s response time is 8 ms, which is at the faster and better end of the spectrum. This screen is likely to display cleaner, sharper images during high-action scenes and with fewer image artifacts than other screens in its class. This technology is housed in a black gloss cabinetry that is sure to fit well with most any decor.

The 32HL67 has a panel resolution of 1366 x 768 pixels. This qualifies it as 720 progressive-line HDTV, which is a noticeably better picture than standard definition sets, but not as detailed as the 1080 HD sets available. Its 16:9 wide screen aspect ratio delivers most movies the way they were meant to be seen in the theater, without back bars wasting the top and bottom of the screen.

From Amazon.com

A pleasent surprise…

Shopping over at Best Buy for a HDTV a few days ago, I decided to give this REGZA a shot. The picture quality compared favorably to the Sharp and Samsung that I was looking at. Plus, it was under $1000 unlike the other two, so why not?

Once I set it up and got a good look at it, it exceeded my expectations.

First of all, this thing’s got three HDMI inputs. I always thought that TVs of this size only had two at most. That’s pretty damn generous of Toshiba. I mean, it ain’t like I’m gonna be able to use them all, but it’s still nice to have them.

A viable, cost-effective contender in the midsized HDTV market

This is one of those for-want-of-a-nail homeowner stories – it began when my daughter’s TV suddenly stopped working. Who knows why? One day it worked, the next day it didn’t.
